I am sure everyone wants to know how wonderful three lakes was. We’ll get to that before friday. I think that right now, this is more important.

As a general rule, I do not blog about WoW . I have met wonderful people (Jackbooted Right Wingers among them) and told some pretty damn cool stories with it. All in all, it is a very positive experience–even when the game itself is being wonky. I don’t even typically post when someone is being stupid in game. For the most part, what happens in WoW stays in Wow.
This is an exception.
Last night, a brief discussion of Habeus Corpus, Due Process and Search and Seizure rights started. For the most part, these conversations are civil and, to a degree, left of center. At this point someone I do not know well said, “Due process for our enemies. That’s great.” That’s when the chatter started. Some folk tried to figure out what this guy meant. Others jumped out of the conversation. I added my two cents–which was, “Due process rights are human rights, and until we fight aliens, our enemies are entitled to them.” I then followed up with, “we should probably move on.” Twice.
If Lewis, the aforementioned right winger, and I got into this conversation, I think we both would have quickly agreed to disagree–or taken it to the blogs. WoW and Politics don’t need to mix.
The person in question said something else, “Yeah, I get it. I need to shut up” and left the channel. I have a problem with this. ITs the rough equivalent to a temper tantrum. I don’t have a problem with the thought as much (although I’m on the record saying some rather strong things about the idea of our “enemies.”) but I do have a problem with throwing down the political gauntlet and running away, especially if it disrupts my hobby.
Now that I got this whiny blog off my chest, I can go back to real work.

Really Quickly:
Will pointed out that Andy Dick was recently arrested for sexual battery and drug charges. He was held on bond and released. Now, Andy isn’t exactly a grade-A celebrity. He is a Top Quality CoBag, but that is immaterial to the story. The fact is if one of my clients had done this and had drugs in his pocket, he would have been held longer. Given that this is not Andy’s first time getting busted for drugs or sexually inappropriate behavior, I believe a $5,000 bail is insanely low.
Actually, one of my clients did do something like this in a school setting. He was in jail for over 48 hours. It was his first offense. Why this Dick is getting special treatment is beyond me.

Hello world.
Since my last gDoc post, I’ve done the following things:
1) Turned 32
2) Went to a wedding with Shannon (awesome pictures to be put up with her approval)
3) Spent 10 hours in supervisor training.
4) Got an awesome t-Shirt featuring my brother (alas, its a size too small. I’m still a Large, not a Medium)
5) Caught up with my monthly paperwork
6) Planned for an exciting vacation with my Boston Peeps.
Each one of these topics could get a decent blog post. For instance, I keep thinking of calling my 32 year the, “year of the bastard” but I don’t want to sound too Warren Ellis-y. I’m no where near cool enough to pull that off anyway. The wedding pictures–there’s a string of teribadawesome pics taken by Shannon while intoxicated. The world needs to see her (drunk) artist Eye.
Supervisor training–this is scary and it makes me think of my dad.
The Boston peeps are going on a vacation with me to my family’s house in 3lakes. I will now list the people I’ve brought to 3 lakes.
Will
Sara(q)
Seth
Mike Williamson
Zach.
That’s it. All of those people have the following thing in common–I think of them as family. that’s it. I am that fond of the Boston people.
There is more-nerd stuff, angry politics, music discoveries-but gDocs isn’t really that helpful for the blogging. I’m spoiled with ecto; however, I will try to do more than just tweet my blog back to life (seriously, follow the tweets).
More later. Now I have to write an intake. By intake, I mean nerd stuff I owe my nerd peeps.

First, in reference to the title of this post, she fell. I had nothing to do with her falling. It all stems from this weekend.
Once again, I’m feeling under the weather. I believe this has to do with the rapid temperature changes in Joliet. Why were we in Joliet? Shannon’s cousin got married at Joliet Union Station. Outside it was in the 80s, inside it was in the 40s. I’m sure the booze didn’t help; however, except for the minor headache I had when I woke up, I had no other hangover symptoms. As the day went on, I got more nauseous.
The ill-effects of booze are only a smidge of the bad news I have to report. Last week, my laptop–my work, blog and all-around-machine–died. It died a painful death (something to do with the hardware, not the software). I did manage to back it up before it crashed. However, I am now out one machine.
I can’t really blog on my desktop computer, mostly because it’s hooked up to the TV and is a media (and video game station) now. As nice as Shannon’s Dell is, it doesn’t have ecto, nor can I bring it to work with me and jot down blog posts when I have an idea. I will not blog from the only computer we have in the office. That’s just a set-up for a firing. WordPress hates the iPhone. It just does.
What I plan on doing is blogging occasionally from Shannon’s Dell and playing with Twitter updates.
So all I want from my birthday is for my readers to cut me some slack while I figure out what to do about the lack of my laptop.
Cheers!
OG/OPB/Marty

I can’t breathe today. Still, I will answer the pressing questions of the day.
VON asks: Why do I hate/abhor/detest female singers?
Maybe it is because the female singers they are pushing these days are not singers so much as they are “entertainers.” It is the objectification of women that you hate, not the female singers.
New-Dad Brando asks: What question would you love to ask but NOT want to know the answer to?
There are very few things in this world that I would not want to know. However, I think the one question I would love to ask but not want the answer to is, “why Hootie?”
–
Deb asks: Why am I considering moving to an area I don’t really like to make my spouse happy?
I will now bullet point the reasons:
•You are a swell person and will do things to make others happy.
•The places you are thinking about living may not be as bad as you think.
•Your husband rules and he should be happy.
•You maybe more done with Portland than you think.

Aerin asks, “why do friends plan gatherings for the same day? How do you decide which party to go to?”
Because of groups of friends only have one friend in common–you–which leads to massive amounts of problems. Add to this mix the obligatory family holidays and you find yourself driving hours at a time for the same party over and over and over again.
Friend’s don’t do it maliciously; however, sometimes they do it without thinking of others. But that is a different question.
You chose by going to the get-to-gether that you prefer to go to IF you can only do one. We try to spend a little time at each party before retiring. This takes more work, but it often greatly appreciated.
If you really would prefer to go to both parties equally, go to the one that would appreciate you kids more. If, again, they both really want to see your kids, see the people you see less often. Share the love.

The always clever AG asks a number of questions:
First: How do I remove ketchup from a white t-shirt I have already washed and the stain did not come out?
Dry Cleaners.
Second: I also want to know what to look for in a gay bar?
The dance floor. If there is no one dancing, move on. If there is dancing, stay. If there is Erasure, drink mojitos and dance till the sabbath.
Always check Yelp.
If you’re coming to Chicago, I recommend a pub crawl up and around Broadway, north of Belmont.
Most importantly, What does it mean when a guy you like asks if he can join you next week at your synagogue services? He quantifies it with “This may sound weird”.
It means he likes you and he is looking into (first hand) your ideas of faith. This can be a normal date–albeit a bit unusual for a lapsed catholic (at no point have I had a thought about going to Shannon’s church)–but it sounds to me like this is a Very Important Date. This kind of date is equivalent to meeting the core group of friends or meeting the parents.
It is also a damn good sign.
Now I am going to do another round of inhalers. Leave more questions–but next week, I won’t be answering until Tuesday Afternoon. I’ll be chilling with VON and Shannon on Monday in Michigan.

‘May equality live long and prosper’ - Takai, New Yorkers among Ca. gay rush:
WEST HOLLYWOOD - Star Trek’s George Takei plunked down $70 for the first same-sex marriage license issued in this gay mecca Tuesday and turned to the crowd, beaming.
If you don’t think Sulu has the right to marry, you’re pushing towards unAmerican.
I’m not labeling this politics because who you marry has no business in politics.
